I was reading a magazine article last night that said that every night before going to bed you should remember 3 things from your day that made you happy. This is supposed to help calm worries and help you sleep better. Well, after staring at my ceiling for an hour and a half last night when I should have been sleeping, I thought tonight would be a great night to do this. Here goes:
1. My amazing family and friends. I realized just how lucky I was today when I was responding to the 100+ Facebook "happy birthday" posts I received today.
2. My daughter. This is a given and will be on my list every day. But today just seeing her face light up when I walked in the room was enough.
3. The city of New Orleans. I spent the day acting as a tourist in my own town by walking through the French Market and Riverwalk. The city's feel and beauty never ceases to amaze me.
Well that was easy today! I know there will be days when remembering 3 things that made me happy that day will be difficult. And I know that on those days, doing this exercise will be been more important.
What 3 things made you happy today?

Another year goes by...
Well another year goes into the books! And what a year this was! In the past year I have graduated nursing school, started a new job, bought my first house AND had a baby! Whew...I'm exhausted just writing all that! Looking back over the last year, there is nothing I would change. However, as I enter the LAST year of my twenties, there are many more things I want to accomplish...hence, the blog.
Here is just a quick list of things I want to do this year:
Start making cakes (this has been on my list for a while, but those year I am determined to start)
Keep cooking for my family every night
Begin a career that I truly enjoy (keeping my fingers crossed that the interview I'm going on tomorrow goes well!!)
Be a great mom and role model to my daughter
Continue to have a strong and healthy marriage
There are many more things I want to do (crafting for one...) but that's just the first few things off the top of my head. More to come on each in the coming months!

New to this...
So I have been fighting with my computer since yesterday afternoon when I wrote the "Menu Plan Monday" post....As you can tell this world of blogging is all new to me. I kept trying to link up to orgjunkie.com Menu Plan Monday, but kept getting a message that there was no backlink associated with my post.....well almost 24 hours later, I figured out what this meant (with the help of google....yes, I do have 2 college degrees, thank you very much!). So now I am hoping that this works....
Wish me luck!!

Menu plan Monday
So this is another one of those things I have been meaning to do for a long time now. Menu planning. My husband and I have been married for 3 years and have never been consistent or gotten in to a night time routine that included cooking dinner. Not to say that we never cook, we just get take out much more often.
In our defense, we did always have good excuses for not cooking....for the first 2 years of our marriage I was still in nursing school. I would either get home late from work after going to school all day, or be studying all night. Or both. Then I graduated from school and we did better with cooking. Except on the nights that I worked. I don't get home until 8 p.m. So we would always tell ourselves that it was too late to cook as we walked out the door to McDonalds, Arbys, wherever...
Now that baby K is getting older, we really want to teach her healthier eating from the beginning. So this is my way of making us cook every night. From now on, eating out will be a special treat and no longer a frequent occurrence.
So here is our plan for this week:
Monday - chicken ceasar salad
Tuesday - leftover roast beef from Sunday - this is such an easy crock pot recipe! Perfect for busy families. You just use 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 soup can water, 1 pack of dry French onion soup mix, salt, pepper, Tony's seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder (seasoning to taste). Cook on low for 8 hours. Ready when you get home from work!
Wednesday - pizza (for my birthday!)
Thursday - jambalaya
Friday - tacos
Saturday - Spaghetti
Sunday - leftovers
I am going to make sure I post this as www.orgjunkie.com so that I have to stick to my week's plan!

The FIRST Entry...
Well, I guess this isn't the Real FIRST entry...I can't begin to tell you how many times I have started to write this first entry and then stopped after the first line. Either Baby K woke up, or I got hungry, or just got stuck on what else to say. So I guess I will start with why I wanted to start blogging.
I have noticed a common theme on the blogs I read and that is "accountability". I like this. And I need something that will hold me accountable to all the things I say I'm going to do. I am notorious for saying that I am going to do something, then never finishing it. So now I have this place to hold me to finishing projects, starting habits, or anything else I want to do.
So now here I am! In the world of blogging! Finally! If only someone had been around before to make me finish this dreaded first entry months ago when I first decided to do this....
